Professor Dun was already researching childhood cancers when his career took a deeply personal turn. In 2018, his two-year-old daughter Josephine was diagnosed with an incurable form of paediatric cancer, Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG).
Facing the reality of a DIPG diagnosis, the most aggressive of all childhood cancers, Professor Dun has dedicated his career to finding effective treatments. Tragically, Josephine passed away almost 2 years from diagnosis, fuelling his mission to combat DIPG relentlessly.
Renowned for his captivating speaking, Professor Dun connects personal experience with profound professional expertise, underscoring the pivotal role of patient advocacy in medical research. Professor Dun’s Press Club address will inspire with stories of hope, updates on progress being made in DIPG research, and emerging treatments for paediatric brain cancer. He will share his perspective on how governments should partner with philanthropists to boost investment in medical research and target funding to areas of need.
